Pokémon Online Replayer


Ever wanted to watch a Pokémon Online log instead of read it? aeo from Smogon has been hard at work designing a program that reads and animates logs exported from PO. This is very much still a work in progress, but you can visit his site here and check out a sample video here.

    Do you think you'd use this yourself for YouTube videos? I think they'd work out fine.

    Not sure, but this type of coding (including adding the animation) is extremely tedious. He probably spent a lot of time on it.

    Wow this could be really awesome, I'm not even mildly familiar with the tech, but it could make getting good battles for youtube incredibly easy.

    Just posting a narration using this tool. Not trying to plug, I hate that shit after all and even if I was, I could pick a better video to do it with. I'm just trying to give people an idea of how it could actually be used for YouTube and if potential subscribers like (or hate) it.

    Hi aeo! Thanks for stopping by. I don't have much to offer for improvements, but I tend to like simple words for names. Just "Replayer" could work if you wanted, or perhaps a single word that means something relevant. "Flashback" is an example of a name that could fit the criteria.

    After trying it out I found that it doesn't take in to account abilities such as Natural Cure and Regenerator

    Of course that's fine aeo. And I did notice those bugs, but never commented on them.

    I also noticed another bug in a different battle where someone had either used rest or was put to sleep, then had one of their pokemon use heal bell. The pokemon were using their moves like normal, but were still marked as asleep.

    I guess we're kinda turning this blog post into a bugs thread?

    Is this a feature like the Vs. recorder where its a tool to go back and watch battles already done or is it possible to play it live, while playing?
