Terrakion is a Pokémon that has never gotten as much usage as it should. Its unique Rock / Fighting dual typing and high base 129 Attack stat allow it to get past even strong physical walls like Gliscor and Skarmory, especially with the Choice Band set.
Thanks to its high power and speed, Terrakion receives many opportunities to switch in and start attacking. It even receives the 1.5x Special Defense boost from Sandstorm, making it quite bulky as well. Prediction tends to be easy with this set, since the majority of opposing teams tend to pack a single extremely obvious switch-in to physical attackers. X-Scissor and Quick Attack provide Terrakion with extra coverage and useful Choice Band-boosted priority, respectively.Once you’ve determined what the opponent’s physical wall is, it all becomes a matter of choosing the right move. Close Combat can 2HKO physically defensive Skarmory, and Stone Edge deals 44.92% - 52.82% to standard Gliscor, meaning it can only switch in one time without risking a 2HKO. Since Terrakion can take out common physical walls, pairing it with a teammate that can take advantage of its power is advised. Conkeldurr, Landorus and Excadrill are examples of teammates that can sweep teams after the aforementioned walls have been eliminated.
