Deoxys-S is commonly seen as a suicide lead, aiming to set up as many hazards as possible. However, it also has the potential to function as a great late-game cleaner, thanks to its excellent coverage and fantastic Speed stat. Since this set tends to be rare, most opponents will often lose at least one or two crucial team members to it.

The first thing that stands out about this set is its great type coverage. BoltBeam combined with Superpower for Tyranitar and HP Fire for Ferrothorn and Scizor allows Deoxys-S to 2HKO most threats and even OHKO some others. 12 Atk EVs are enough to guarantee the OHKO on max HP Tyranitar, and HP Fire easily dispatches of Scizor. Even better, most Scizor tend to use U-turn or another Bug move, although Deoxys-S can survive a Bullet Punch as well.

Since Deoxys-S is a bit lacking in power even with a Life Orb, entry hazard support can really make this set shine. Using Deoxys-S as a late-game cleaner on a bulky team with Skarmory or Ferrothorn can work. Roserade is also a good entry hazard user, being able to set up on the anti-metagame Gastrodon and many Rain team members.
