Honkalculator

Honko from Smogon has recently released two calculators, designed to run damage calcs involving a single Pokémon's performance against every other competitive set. Check out the links below or the Tools tab to try them out.

Suspect Testing Resumes

Over at Smogon, Round 5 of OU Suspect Testing has finally started up again, with a predicted ending date of September 18th. As usual, the required rating for voting is 1450.

P.S. bye thundurus

Poll Results: Favorite Site Feature?

Sets have always been pretty much the biggest part of this site, so it's no surprise to see them take the top spot. Cores were pretty close; I don't get to write them too often because they need to be tested a lot more thoroughly, but I'd like to include more. Guides and News received a lot fewer votes, but both are pretty important aspects of the site overall.

Who voted Other? It could mean a lot of things - the videos, FalChat (TM), teams or maybe just something else I overlooked. As always, thanks for voting!

Oceania Threepeats

With Earthworm's victory over Phillip7086 in the finals of the Smogon World Cup, Team Oceania has won the tournament for the third time in a row. Oceania's lineup consists of the following highly skilled players: Earthworm, Golden Sun, Hipmonlee, Heist, panamaxis, Playa, Stallion, zerowing, animenagai, sheep and The Chaser. The next round will begin on June 10, 2012.

Site Patch 1

- Links to external sites now open in new tabs

- Tab images have been moved to Picasa (should help for networks that block Photobucket)

- Pictures now link to the posts they're in
- Metatags have been added
- Blue background now appears in mobile mode

Battle4Charity Round 3

Anyone following the main PMP channel may be aware that Battle4Charity is starting up again. This is a joint project by the PMP directors, designed  to raise money for worthy causes. Child's Play is the affiliated charity this time. I couldn't accept the invitation to participate due to time constraints, but I plan on donating and watching whenever possible. Click here for the site.

Underrated YouTuber: FierceBirdOfFlame

I have only one thing to say. Please check this guy out before he strikes you with RELENTLESS FORCE.

Smogon World Cup VI Concludes

The finals of the Smogon World Cup VI recently finished with an intense matchup: Earthworm of Oceania vs Phillip7086 of US West. Both individuals are top players with impressive past battling achievements. Click here to watch the battle.

Introducing Archives

You may have noticed some changes in the tabs. First of all, the Home tab has been removed. It just wasn't necessary considering the top banner already links to the homepage.

More importantly, the Archive has been added. This was an important change, as it keeps a record of important sub-series that run on the site - namely Teams and Underrated YouTubers. The Archive should help organize some important older posts that aren't sorted elsewhere.

Smog 16 Released

The Smog is Smogon's online webzine and the Internet's greatest source of high-quality competitive Pokémon articles. Issue 16 came out recently, complete with updated content for various BW metagames. Other than that, the Smog also covers non-battling subjects like art and entertainment.

P.S. We totally wrote up SubRoost Lugia first  :P

Poll Results: Favorite BW Tier?

The results are in from the most recent poll: OU led the choices in terms of popularity, although UU had a very strong second place showing. Uber and RU enjoyed considerably less popularity, with only 6 votes (5%) each.

I like UU best, but that might be because it's similar to DPP OU. Anyway, this information should help me adapt the site to accommodate typical visitors. Thanks for voting!

Smogon RMT Archive Updated

Smogon has once again updated its RMT Archive, the source of some of the best teams ever built. Among the new additions are Teams WOLF GANG by franky, Enter the Dragon by PK Gaming and JabbaTheGriffin, Negative 3 by PDC, and Tabloo by Tab and Bloo. The Archive is built of teams that not only achieve great success, but also showcase originality and anti-metagame strategies - two factors every team builder should aim to include.

Smogondex BW Update

It's the moment we've all been waiting for! After much delay, Smogon has finally updated their strategy Pokédex with Black and White analyses. Check it out here!

Site Staff Update

This site's been getting pretty big pretty fast. I may need some help keeping things active around here. As a result, I've added two moderators - Enroyalle and PenguinX - who will both have control of the chat and posting privileges. Both also have plenty of metagame knowledge and should be able to share info along with me. Looking forward to working with both of you!

Underrated YouTuber: chimpact

I was recently tipped off on chimpact, a Smogonite and YouTuber with relatively few subscribers but plenty of quality content. Actual competitive battlers with good commentary can be rare in the YouTube battling community, but chimpact is more than capable at both. Channel here and sample video after the break.

Poll Results: Best Weather Type?

Conclusion: everyone hates weather. I voted for Rain even though I don't use it too often myself, just because I personally feel it has the most broken typing and abusers. Thanks for participating and be sure to check out the new poll!

Pokémon DS Skins

Anyone looking to customize their DS can check out the eBay page here. I've been using one of these custom skins for the past year or so, and the cosmetic look is really cool and easy to apply. Just make sure you're not embarrassed by publicly displaying your love of mons.

Pokémon Online Replayer

Ever wanted to watch a Pokémon Online log instead of read it? aeo from Smogon has been hard at work designing a program that reads and animates logs exported from PO. This is very much still a work in progress, but you can visit his site here and check out a sample video here.

Machinima Pokémon Launch

Machinima Pokémon is the newest channel on the Machinima network, formed in a collaboration with PokéMoshPit. Everything's still under construction for now, but you can visit the channel by clicking here.

EDIT: Apparently it's called ProjectMoshPit now! I'm more confused than ever...

Underrated YouTuber: PenguinX

PengX is a skilled battler who provides solid commentary. He also has a special talent for crafting original and effective team ideas. Despite these advantages, he happens to be extremely under subbed. Check out his channel here along with a sample video after the break.
